when boredom takes over

Hello blog readers! How are you. we are fab over here at the Motley headquarters. So the other day my partner and I were too bored, so we wanted to give this dining room of mine a little face lift since it is so ugly and boring. All we used were a ruler, pencil, painters tape and the like .60 paints from A.C.Moore to pizzazz this wall. So that means it cost under $10.00 to make this happen.

What a boring wall isn't it. It definitely needed something. Don't ya think?

We did put picture frames and accessories over the top of the stripes. The picture frames came in a pack and the pack is from Walmart less then $20.00 (I clearly don't like buying things if it cost over $20.00) The candle holders are stolen from my mamma and the decals were only a buck each at the Dollar Tree. Here is a tip when you get a small decal like that it doesn't look to good on it's own floating in a wall space it tends to get lost and make your place look empty, try to put it with other things such as the wall we did for an example.

So if you have a wall you aren't happy with I hope we inspired you, you could also add your own flare, like make it chevron print or diagonal. And if you live in an apartment it is easier painting it back rather then painting your whole wall back. Just a thought, hope you enjoyed this read. Have a great day. We love you smooched

Fashion on a budget

Do you ever feel like you aren't trendy enough because your $$ is a little short. You should never feel that way. If you are in college or between jobs one thing is for sure no matter how low your cash is people always like to look their best. I know I do. Since high school I have always shopped at thrift stores not only did it make my wardrobe bigger, but it made it unique. I didn't have to go to school to see someone with the same outfit because I didn't get it at H&M or Forever 21.

I will give you the number one rule to shopping at the thrift store. Be committed you won't always find what you are looking for but when you do it's like your little gem hidden in a pile of rocks. Another rule I have is, sometimes you look at an item and you think EWE but look a little harder and think hmm those awesome shoes I have will bring this top to life! One more rule, if you love it, don't put it down, there are scavengers in there, you will never see it again in real life  but you sure will dream about it.

To end this off I have a little example of an outfit bought at a thrift store and how it is certainly very trendy and worth every penny. The top was $4.99 and the pants were $2.99. That means you just snagged an $8.00 find that you wouldn't see on anyone else! Beat that Burlington!

I mean if your not a fan of thrift stores and you'd don't want to be caught dead in one. I guess you can get an outfit similar to this one, I tried to be fair and find it as cheap as possible so here is a top from Forever 21 that cost $17.80 and a pair of floral harem pants for $22.80! Oh and the total cost of this outfit would be $40.60. Just some food for thought.

I hope we helped you thinking about stretching your dollar a tad. Either way dress to kill and be a beautiful original!

Just try upcycling.

Motley is all about finding old things and giving them new life. Today it happened to be a set of these ugly wicker chairs. Didn't matter to us they had nice bones, well some what. They were trashed and of course that means they were free!

All we did was buy some outdoor spray paint from Home Depot. That cost under $20.00 for the cans. We dusted these babies off with some bleach and paper towels. We also pulled the wicker off of the arms they were really lose.

Well we do want to put another coat on these chairs but we ran out of spray paint! We were also thinking about getting so thick rope and wrapping the arms and giving it a nautical theme. What do you think?

Did we inspire you? I hope so!

Sincerely,
  Motley

A day in the life of Motley

Let me just say how hard it is to keep up with a blog! We really wanna stick with this blog though, it would be great to look back and see how we worked and did what we did as we grow into a legitimate company. Well not that we are not legitimate but we are small right now and we will grow to be huge!

A day in the life of Motley consist of 6-8 hour day together at the table working as a team. We also work an extra 2 hours or so on our own, marketing, on our social networks, taking pictures of outfits or shorts, and even making more orders! We are a very busy team and we put in long hours and cut into our personal time because we believe in ourselves. We are so happy to see so many people believe in us! We love waking up to new orders and new followers because it shows how much we grow and we are really putting ourselves out there.

Anyhow back to a day in the life. We usually chomp on some salad and tortilla chips with salsa and of course some green tea. In between the madness of shredding shorts on the dining table we listen to our Spotify usually N'sync and such. (we love 90's tunes) We usually have so much shreds of jeans it is all over our clothes the floor, the pets the children our food, but hey price we gotta pay to make it big.

When we have had a successful day of making jeans and mailing out orders and making new products, we tend to treat ourselves to a glass of wine. We so appreciate all the love and appreciation we are getting from our family, friends and customers! We just want to keep doing it!

Maybe we should make a YouTube channel so you guys can be with us while we grow our business? Hmm, it's just a thought, what do you think?

Thanks for reading our blog.
