How to thrift

Hello blog readers! I thought a post on how to thrift would be awesome! First things first, you must have an open mind, maybe you like the shape of that vase but not the color. Maybe you like that pillow but it doesn't match your decor, maybe your son is way too small for that shirt you love! Just think that vase can be painted into a color you love! And it will still cost you less than it does it if you were to go to TJ maxx or Target! You can also look at it and say I did that !!! As for a pillow or some curtains that don't match that could just be your inspiration to change the tired living room or bedroom decor! And what if you find an awesome shirt for your child and it ain't quite their size yet? Well just think hey i can put this away and when it's time for him/her to wear it it will be a nice little surprise in their closet!

First example I told ya, for instance "oh look at this cute vase love it but why does it have to be clear glass I wish I could find a vase that is the same color I saw earlier at Pier 1!" Guess what, that is what thrifting is about finding something you love and making it your own!

What if for months you have been wanting to redecorate your living room and had no idea what to do with it. You were clueless of what color to go with. What if you found an antique old mirror or a beautiful pattern on a pillow that you have never seen? It would be the perfect start to your newly renovated space!

As far as clothes at the thrift store, you have to have an open mind. If you love those Ralph Lauren pants and they are too long, take them to get hemmed! Or maybe you found the perfect color blazer but it has a tiny rip on it, add some cool studs! If you love those sandals and they just happen to be Michael Khors and it is dead winter, where else would you find those for that great price? We can not sleep on the awesome steals of a thrift store!

One mans trash is another mans treasure!!

Lastly lets not forget how original shopping at a thrift store makes us, If you buy that old dresser and turn it into a buffet for your dining room, it will be the only one that looks like that and you can say hey I did that!

DIY tye dye shorts!

Hello readers, it's blog Tuesday! Today I am doing a DIY on dyed shorts! There is no wrong color, or way we can do this! All you need are a the following

-bleach jeans/shorts
-scissors/xacto knife
-fabric dye
-garbage bag
-hot water
-washer and dryer
-studs (optional)
(Check out our etsy page for a great deal on clothing studs)

In my case I acccidently left these shorts in bleach, so I figured why not dye them? I have these dye lying around! These bottled ones actually say to put it in the laundry then dye it that way, but that means I can only use one color, I figured it would still work like the regular rit dye.

So first things first you want to have a pair a jeans and cut them into shorts (if you desire) and make sure you bleach them, the dye won't take to the blue denim. For these particular shorts I had no vision I wanted shorts I wanted something fun and different.

I took old dye bottles I had laying around and put the dye and some hot water in it I did about equal parts. But I'm pretty sure whatever dye you will have the directions.

Take your shorts and lay the on the trash bag, this could get messy. I just took the purple and put it on first then the redish pink then back to the purple. Some spots I kind of missed so I took the yellow and just put it on those spots!

I think they look awesome but I wanted to give them more of something so while they were wet I gave them a few more shreds it was easier a that way and I wanted to do it nephew I put it in the laundry to give it that distressed look.

So here are the shorts all done!

I felt like they could use some studs so I added a few! These shorts came out awesome!

And here a couple we made in the past and if you love these shorts and aren't a fan of DIY. Shoot us an email and we can do them for you!
